Our Director

Director’s Bio - Anastasio Rossi 

Anastasio Rossi is the Director of the Golden Apple Chorus in Hawthorne, NY. The Golden Apple Chorus is a member chorus of Sweet Adelines, Inc., an international organization of women’s choruses that sing music in the barbershop style.

He holds a Doctorate, MA, and Professional Diploma in Music from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Science in Music from SUNY Fredonia. He is the former Coordinator of Music for the Mount Pleasant School District in Thornwood, NY. 

A Certified Director in the Barbershop Harmony Society, he is currently in the Director Certification Program for Sweet Adelines International.

His wide experience in music includes Associate Directorship, and Music VP, for the Westchester Chordsmen in White Plains, NY. He sings in the Chordsmen’s chapter quartets, including the Freshmen Again!, a vocal jazz quartet, for which he arranges the voice parts and creates computerized instrumental accompaniment.  

He has held the positions of Director, Pace University Glee Club, and All-State Voice Adjudicator for the New York State School Music Association. A member of the faculty at Harmony College East, Stash teaches Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Directing to aspiring Barbershop directors. He is an seasoned stage director, pit orchestra conductor, and lighting designer, and has worked with numerous community theatre and school groups, with over 75 musicals and dramatic productions to his credit, including The Music Man, The King and I, Guys and Dolls, West Side Story, Grease, Oklahoma, and The Sound of Music, to name a few.

His military duty was served in the US Naval Reserve as a Beachmaster Officer in the amphibious component of the Navy, which included the Seabees, Frogmen (now Navy  SEALS). Stash lives in Katonah, NY, and is a long time Westchester County resident.
